Home EV charger rebates
in Canada
Provincial programs and national incentives can offset hundreds — sometimes thousands — of dollars on your Level 2 home charger installation. Find what you qualify for.
CleanBC EV Charger Rebate — Single Family
BC Hydro / FortisBC
Covers up to 50% of purchase and installation costs to a maximum of $350. An additional $250 bonus is available for select smart/networked chargers, and a separate $200 rebate applies to energy management devices.
CleanBC EV Charger Rebate — Multi-Unit Residential
BC Hydro / FortisBC
Up to $2,000 per charger for condo and apartment buildings, with a maximum of $14,000 per complex. Covers shared and personal parking spaces.
Roulez Vert — Home Charging Installation
Hydro-Québec / Transition Énergétique Québec
Covers up to 50% of eligible home charging installation costs. Amounts up to $5,000 are available for higher-capacity or multi-unit residential applications. Standard single-family rebates typically range $500–$1,500.
ZEVIP — Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program
Natural Resources Canada
Federal program offering up to 50% of eligible costs for multi-unit residential buildings and workplaces. Primarily targets MURBs (condos/apartments) and commercial properties. Administered through NRCan funding partners.
SWTCH Energy — Free Level 2 Charger Program
SWTCH Energy (Clean Fuels Regulation)
As of late 2025, SWTCH Energy offers a program providing a free Level 2 EV charger to single-family homeowners, funded by Canada's Clean Fuels Regulation Carbon Credit Program. Homeowners may also earn ongoing income from charging.
Utility Time-of-Use Incentives
Various Ontario Utilities
Some Ontario utilities offer time-limited incentives for off-peak EV charging, hardware discounts, or smart charger rebates. Programs vary by local utility (Toronto Hydro, Hydro One, etc.). Check with your local provider.
Before you apply
- Pre-approval first — For condo/MURB projects, you must apply before purchasing equipment or permits may be denied.
- Level 2 only — All programs require a Level 2 (240V) networked charger. Level 1 (120V) wall outlets do not qualify.
- Licensed electrician required — DIY installation disqualifies you from all programs. Use a contractor recognized by the utility.
- Apply within 90 days — Most programs require you to submit your rebate application within 90 days of installation completion.
